a couple of days ago someone posted me this question. how do you define enjoyment? it came from a very old person, to put it simply, so i'm sure he expects a deep answer or for me to give some thought to it before giving him my answer. so i said to him to give me a day to think of an answer or to like comtemplate as to how i define enjoyment.
so at night, i finally gave him my answer, and here it is. to me, enjoyment is defined as doing work that i'm most passionate about, and be able to derive maximum benefits from it, and at the same time, hopefully be able to touch and impact the lives of many as well. I believe by doing the work we are passionate about, we are able to derive pleasure from it, and from there, obviously, we are enjoying what we are doing, cos' we've made up our minds that we want to do this kind of work for the rest of our lives.
some may think i'm somewhat a nerd by saying that i define work as enjoyment. but think about it, you may have friends that enjoy partying and going out clubbing all night long, but the thing is, they have lives to life, they need to carry on because the have other commitments, other responsibilites, be it their work, or family. they can't be there with you to party forever. get a grip with yourself.
work keeps us sane, it allows us to support others, such as the people we love, such as our partners, our parents and our siblings. and with work, we derive income, and from there, we are able to spend quality time with them. isn't that enjoyment, no?
work makes the world go round. That's all there is to it.
